Chains of Habits by Brenda R. Bryan
“Chains of Habits” are too light to be felt until they’re too heavy to be broken on your own.”— Warren Buffet
I love this quote because it speaks to the creeping reality that our thinking creates habits that we don’t even know are causing us to put chains on, chains that keep us from our dreams.
Little by little, we take on other people’s opinions of us. We tell ourselves that we can’t have that thing, job, love, financial freedom, and aliveness. We slowly begin to carry the weight of those chains, squashing our dreams.
I greatly respect one of Goethe’s couplets: “Whatever you can do or dream, you can. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”
It’s essential to realize the power of our thinking, the power of loving the life we live. That can only happen if we know that our ability to choose makes this happen.
We have thoughts that create feelings, and we then take action to produce our results.
The issue is that our habits often come from our thinking patterns that back up our beliefs but may or may not support our highest potential.
These habits, beliefs, and patterns are called paradigms. Unless we become aware of them, you will continue to create the same results. Some people live to be 95 years old and repeat the same year over and over, while others use these brave thinking tools to live 95 years of a life they love. Is that YOU living the same year repeatedly?
I joined the Mary Morrisey trainings because I was aware that, on an unconscious level, I was repeating patterns that kept me in limited success, capped by my paradigms. I became frustrated and aware that my mindset was creating these outcomes.
The question then became, “What do I need to do differently?”
I have been doing transformational work for over 35 years, and my life has changed radically. However, I wasn’t achieving the results I was working towards. So what did I need to know, and what did I need to do differently?
What’s restricting your success, and what are you committed to doing to change it? What can you do, from where you’re at, with what you have?
The doing, however, is best done when your actions are vision-driven. Your results come from the expanded state of your longings. The power of your thoughts and feelings will change your results.
“I have learned, at least, in my experience, that if one advances confidently in the direction of their dream, endeavoring to live the life they are imagining, one passes an invisible boundary… All sorts of things begin to occur that never otherwise would have occurred. One begins to meet with a success, unexpected in common hours… New, more universal, more liberal laws begin to establish themselves around this person, or the old laws are rearranged in one’s favor; nevertheless, one begins to live with a license of a higher order of beings.”
– Henry David Thoreau.
Most people don’t know their dreams matter; any time spent achieving them will create results. That is why the word endeavoring is so essential here. Putting an effort into the life you love will produce results that transform the way things are now.
What I learned is that there are two ways to shift a paradigm –
- Repetition is repeatedly stating your vision, feeling it, and adding details that light you up. It is not enough to say I want a big house. How big? 5 bedrooms? 3 baths? A pool? Guest rooms? What does each room look like? What about your kitchen? What do you prepare there? Not enough to say I want lots of money; the universe cannot provide that because “lots” has different meanings to people. I want to double my income this year from $65,000 to $130,000, and I will create a zero balance on my credit cards and take my kids to Disneyland for a week. It is a picture in your mind’s eye that generates feelings you love. Everything is created twice, first in your thinking, then in form. That means the more you visualize it, the more it gets created in your life.
- Immersion is a part of surrounding yourself with like-minded partners in believing and reading your vision daily, multiple times daily- seeing it, feeling it, doing it, and having a coach where you have support, accountability, and new perspectives. That is why I run my Badass Warriors Circle Mastermind; it allows you to open to new behaviors, unlock hidden talents, be accountable to your dream, and so much more.
Guess what! We cannot do it alone; we need a coach, structure, accountability, and an environment that supports your dream.

I am so loving the life I live. Yes, I have longings and discontent. As I listen to how the universe speaks to me, I choose the thoughts that support what I love and take action toward the quality of my vision. You can’t just get to your dream; you must come from it.
Are you interested in exploring how to do that? I invite you to take action so I can support you. If not now, then when?

Brenda is a fantastic coach.
She is truly passionate about supporting women in being seen and heard. Brenda uses a combination of gentle support and challenge to bring out the best in her clients and in every human being with whom she comes into contact. The Raise Your Voice Speakers Club helped me grow in confidence and clarity in delivering my message, in a community environment that made me feel safe yet also challenged me to grow. I highly recommend the Speakers Club to any woman who has a message to share and is ready to play bigger in the world!
Like most people, I guess, I’ve been terrified of public speaking!
Yet I realize that it’s a necessary skill for today’s entrepreneurs and a path to personal empowerment. Turning to Brenda for her expertise and coaching has already made a big difference in my comfort level and ability to show up as myself.
Brenda has the insight, tips and tricks to make “raising your voice” much more than an exercise in imparting information to your listeners. She helps me create more engaging, coherent, and exciting presentations that feel authentic to who I am. If you want to shift how you come across onstage and be seen and heard as a trusted expert, I highly recommend you get in touch with Brenda.
The Raise Your Voice Speakers Club is an AMAZING GROUP..
..of heart centered women coming together to speak our stories.
I like to describe our club as “An empowered group of women, joining energies to make our voices heard, and make the world a better place.”
If you ever envisioned yourself speaking clearly on stage, or wished you could stand up in front of a group and not vomit, to speak your mind, or even speak out loud. If you’re looking for a sisterhood of support, this might be the time for you to come check out our Club.
I have found her speakers club to be an excellent..
..environment in which to learn about promoting my professional interests as an author and an artist. As a result of my participation in this club, I feel much more confident when I speak about myself now, and as a result, my message has become more easily understood and more relevant to the general public.
You’ll be touched and inspired.
I recently attended the inaugural Fireside Stories event put on by Brenda Bryan, creator and facilitator of the Raise Your Voice Speakers Club, and I was thoroughly impressed.
The women who shared their stories and experiences to an attentive crowd were bold, brave, powerful (and brilliant) in their storytelling skills, their authenticity, and their willingness to be vulnerable.
And it’s no wonder with Brenda at the helm, guiding them through the nerve-wracking process of public speaking. She is a soulful, nurturing, and wise mentor who genuinely cares about women’s voices and women’s lives.
I highly recommend Brenda’s Speakers Club and her Fireside Stories event. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry.
